We at Comix4free.com (C4F) care about you who come here to download,read and talk comics with us. Many times we get new readers here and that’s great because they are lifeblood and future of comics whether, you’re buying comics or coming here for your downloads! One of the most common questions someone asks when first getting into comics is “WHERE DO I START?!”. Well before we can answer that we need make sure you can even open and read the files.
FINDING A COMIC READER
Comic Files come mostly in two formats CBZ and CBR (Few times PDF).
A recommended reader used by me personally is CdisplayEX which is absolutely free can be found HERE ⇐ It will have all the functions to read all the file formats we use here.
Many times we will upload an entire RUN† on a comic using ZIP and RAR
files these are types of files that open containing many files in them
(eg. CBZ,CBR). In which case you will need a RAR/ZIP opener there many
great programs (eg.7-Zip,Winrar) all it takes is really searching in
any search engine ” free zip and rar opener” so ill leave that to you guys, there really are some easy to find free software out there.
WHERE DO I START?
In the comic community at large we have two comic companies that conquer the comic market. DC and MARVEL conquer most
major titles in the comic book world. Many who get into comics have a
common misconception that these companies have some sort of bitter
rivalry but, after years of having artist, writers and multitude of
talented people work in each company they’ve grown to even work together
on comics at times.There are many other companies such as Dark Horse Comics(HELLBOY,RED SONJA etc.) and IMAGE Comics (THE WALKING DEAD,SPAWN etc.) these work as third party companies that release other popular titles but ill just start with the main two.
DC known for super heroes such as; BATMAN,SUPERMAN, WONDER WOMAN, TEEN TITANS and many more. Also has an IMPRINT†† known as VERTIGO Comics that release darker more supernatural titles such as HELLBLAZER,THE SAND MAN,SWAMP THING (separate from the DC universe).
MARVEL is of course known for; THE AVENGERS,X-MEN,FANTASTIC FOUR,SPIDER-MAN and the rest of the Marvel Universe. Marvel also had an imprint called MARVEL KNIGHTS that focused on more stand alone character stories and worried less about continuity,the over all plot of their main universe.

Vertigo comics is an imprint†† of DC Comics.
